Amplification Electronics

The heart of this amp is the rail-to-rail AD8397 opamp for amplification and the TLE2426 railsplitter for creating the virtual ground. The AD8397 is capable of driving heavy loads with excellent linearity. It has low distortion, high output current and a wide dynamic range -- while consuming less battery current. High impedance headphones like Sennheiser’s HD650’s are driven perfectly as well as low impedance phones like those by Grado. Even IEM’s (in-ear-monitors) are well suited due to the amp’s very low noise. In combination with low-ESR electrolytic and polyfilm power rail caps this amp offers tight (but not over imposing) bass & drums, crisp (but not annoying) highs and a neutral yet detailed midrange.

Battery Charging

The amp also includes smart battery charging technolocy. It will charge all NiMH or Ni-CD batteries and will not overcharge them. A controller circuit detects the charging status and stops charging when the battery is fully loaded (the green LED on the front indicates the charging status). This is far better than often used "trickle" charging that can overcharge your battery and damage it. The charging feature can be switched off if you use non-rechargeable batteries.

Accessories

The Lyrix amp does NOT include any accessories. To hook up the amp to your player you will need a mini to mini 1/8'' to 1/8'' (3.5mm) interconnect cable. To hook up the amp to the USB port of your computer you will need our USB DAC cable. To power and charge the amp you will need a 14-18V external AC power-supply/charger (plug: center positive, 5.5/2.5mm).
